Description
The Johnnie Walker Gold Label 18 year age statement has been discontinued by Diageo (owner of the Johnnie Walker brand). The 18 year age statement has been dropped and now the label of its replacement reads “Gold Label Reserve.” The following review pertains to the 18 year age statement bottling that has been discontinued. If you find this discontinued bottling, buy it, as the replacement falls far short.
Tasting Notes
I could nose this scotch for hours.
Nose: Light smoke, oak, fruit, brine, with a soft touch of honey.
Palate: Follows the nose, some smoke in the opening, oak, apricots, light brine weaving its way through the drink, a touch of honey, apples, cinnamon, ginger.
Finish: I get ginger, pepper, light oak and a touch of brine. An amazing blend, better than some of the 18 Year Old whiskies i have had before with a perfect balance. If you get the chance, get a bottle. Seeing this is discontinued, I like it even more.
