All though this is not a bourbon, it is an American whiskey fantastic for the strong taste buds. A straight rye whiskey made with a mashbill of 95% rye for intensity and spiciness. Aged for over 2 years and bottled at 46% ABV, this is bold stuff! Absolutely perfect on its own or in a cocktail.
Tasting Notes
Nose: Very big and spicy (what did we expect?!), toasted oak, vegetal notes, allspice and anise.
Palate: More dark spices, star anise, treacle and a hint of espresso.
Finish: Did we mention it was spicy?
Overall: Big, spicy and fairly fresh, eminently drinkable.
