Description
700ml // 46.0% ABV
James Power founded his distillery at Thomas St. in 1791 moving shortly thereafter to a larger site at John’s Lane near the western gate of Dublin.
It was at John’s Lane that the Powers whiskey legend originated and gave rise to one of the most quintessentially, Irish whiskeys.
A single pot still release of Powers whisky. It’s matured in a combination of bourbon and oloroso sherry casks, and named after the distillery where it was first made, now sadly closed.
Tasting Notes
Nose: Barley, copper, fresh oak, leather, and juicy fruit.
Palate: Very smooth with vanilla, dry spice, chocolate and coffee. There is dark fruit here too, raisins and blackcurrants.
Finish: More vanilla and drying copper notes.
Overall: A very well balanced whiskey with not a note out of place. Lovely.
