Description

70cl // 47.0% ABV

The second release of 21 Year Old single malt from Littlemill, a Lowland distillery with a long history. It was founded all the way back in 1772, but it was sadly closed in the early 1990s and demolished in the 2000s. A handsome presentation of whisky from the departed distillery, this time bottled at 47% ABV (the previous 21 Year Old from the distillery was bottled at 46% ABV).

4,600 bottles were produced.

Tasting Notes

Nose: The nose is honeyed and silky with lots of cream; the fruits are fresh and diverse, ranging from apples and pears to honey dew melon and more exotic tropical fruits; vanilla pods, and white chocolate sauce drizzled over berry fruits; floral with soft oak and crushed mint leaf.

Palate: It immediately coats your palate with fresh cream, more vanilla-white chocolate and floral top notes; crushed mint leaves and toasty oak with malt and emerging fruits: first the white, then some melon (honey dew and cantaloupe rind), then some pineapple and tart mango.

Finish: Long coating and creamy this is a very fine and delicate older-American oak matured whisky.

Comment: Very sad that this distillery was lost and that we won’t see much of its whisky moving forward!
