Description
A fabulous 25 Year Old BenRiach and peated too, which is unusual for a Speyside malt. This is the next step up after the lovely 21 Year Old Authenticus, offering up more complexity and power as well as oodles of smoke.
Tasting Notes
Nose: Tropical and fruit-filled with notes of tangy peat, pineapple, verbena, oily smoke and malt.
Palate: Very fruity and rich, with an explosion of peat smoke and dried herbs, a hint of fresh Provence Basil, a little pepper, cedar wood, honey and blossom.
Finish: Good length; fruity and rounded.
I’ve been looking for this whisky for some years now. Finally hunted one down and oh boy what a treat. Speyside peated whiskies always bring something very special to the table. Not the peat fist of Islay, rather a peat glove. And straight bourbon aged Benriach always a treat. and this 25yo is as close to heaven as you’ll get.
