This Private Collection Caol Ila 11 Year Old is a rare and exclusive bottling from the Directors of Gordon & Machphail’s private collection.  This one has been finished in Calvados Wood, it was distilled on 26th October 1988 and bottled in August 2000 producing 2400 bottles from Cask number 97/404 1,2.

Tasting Notes

Nose: Apples? Apple skins perhaps.

Palate: Tannin. Apple. Toffee. Vanilla. Sulphur.

Finish: Whisky wins convincingly against the Calvados, but it’s still a very interesting struggle.

Comment: The Calvados character is almost overwhelming but Caol Ila comes surging through in the finish.
