The 2015 edition of Big Peat at Christmas has flown in on a no horse open sleigh! As ever, Big Peat is a full-bodied, gloriously peaty blended malt made with whiskies from some of Islay’s most renowned distilleries, including Ardbeg, Caol Ila, Bowmore and even Port Ellen. In celebration of the festive season, however, it’s been bottled at cask strength! Top stuff from the folks at Douglas Laing.

Tasting Notes

Nose: Milk chocolate Hob Nobs, scorched earth, smoked ham and a little sea spray.

Palate: Warm ashy sand, coastal flora and more sea salt amidst bonfire smoke, nutty barley and soft fruits.

Finish: Long, nice and sooty.

Overall: Islay be enjoying this on Christmas day, no doubt. (Sorry).
