Description

This 16 Year Old from the Isle of Jura was a bronze medal winner at the 2004 International Wine and Spirits Competition.

With the smoothness of the 10 Year Old allied to extra complexity from more ageing, this is a winner. ‘A delicious and sophisticated dram with impressive depth and almost perfect weight.’ Jim Murray, Whisky Magazine Dec 2000

Tasting Notes

Nose: Fragrant, slightly floral cereal, some minerality at first, becoming increasingly creamy with a hint of orange. Mixed nuts, redcurrant, green apple and finally dark chocolate and spice.

Palate: A full-bodied malt where flavours of creamy chocolate and orange peel develop into cinnamon, spice and hints of smooth soft honey.

Finish: Drying, fragrant oak. After a few sips some chocolate lingers too.

Overall:This is one patient customer – biding its time for 14 years in first fill American white oak Bourbon cask, followed by another two in ex-Amoroso oloroso sherry casks.

Don’t get to taste a lot of Jura , however, this exquisite dram is the finest I’ve had the pleasure of dancing around my taste buds.
